Review: The Scarlet Singapore

Looking for a change from the usual 5-star chain hotels, we decided to have a boutique hotel experience at The Scarlet Singapore. This is one of the first boutique hotels in Singapore and it just looks amazing! If you are searching for a unique stay, look no further as we break it all down in our review of The Scarlet Singapore.

The Scarlet Singapore is located along the slope of Erskine Road and looks absolutely gorgeous with its seductive red and black color scheme. You will notice a row of shops along the road with a second level that looks like shophouses, but they are now in fact converted to the hotel rooms. We think it’s really cool-looking.

Once you enter the lobby, you will be greeted with a bold and beautiful design that will make you go wow. The front desk is straight up but huge, gorgeous chairs and an exquisite ceiling lamp will be littered along the way. On the left is the meeting room, which also doubles up as a waiting area for guests. On the right, you will find the lift, stairs, as well as the entrance to one of their in-house restaurant, Casa Tartufo.

There is a total of 80 rooms available with 5 of them being suites. We stayed in the Premium Room and totally loved it! The color scheme was delightful and pleasing to the eyes. Even within the same range, each room is unique hence it would be advisable to make a special request if you are particular about window placement.

There is a sizeable outdoor Jacuzzi available and can definitely fit a group of friends with no problem. However, there is no shelter so if it rains, the staff will promptly close off the area. There is also a gym on a different floor, but it is small and nothing much to shout about. Make sure you pick a good timing if you want to use these facilities to avoid the crowd!

The Scarlet Singapore has 2 in-house restaurants.

Casa Tartufo serves authentic classic Italian fare for lunch and dinner. If your stay comes with complimentary breakfast, you will be having it here as well but the selection is much simpler with cold cuts and eggs.

Aria is a rooftop bar that offers breathtaking view as you sip on your cocktails and also serves authentic Sicilian dishes.

One of the best features about The Scarlet Singapore is its awesome location.

Located in the Chinatown district, the area is one of the many tourist attractions that is worth a visit. Many trendy bars and popular restaurants are also within walking distance. Be sure to check out Club Street and Ann Siang hill!
